Re: Dragon Link - Production Run #1

Had to cancel a Mouser order (#2) and re-order from Farnell. Still waiting for resonators.

Re: UHF R/C control Link - Thomas's hardware design

Tried multiple configurations of code and diversity switching to try and resolve the problem with the low sensitivity when frequency hopping. All tests currently point out to the PLL in the Micrel module being too slow to support the rate of FHSS required to sustain the current data and frame rate. ...

Dragon Link - Production Run #1

PCBCART has sent out the PCB (27 May 2009) so I expect to get them in about 10-days or so.
RF Modules will be ready for delivery about mid-June, so about 2 to 3 weeks from now.

Re: Pressure altitude from barometric sensors

A common type of pressure sensors come in the wheatstone bridge strain configuration. This might be cheaper and could be made to work at 3.3V (most of the above run at 5V). This could be coupled with some of the 16-bit ADCs we have been looking at for a reasonably cheap solution. The following link ...

Pressure altitude from barometric sensors

The formula for calculating pressure altitude in meters, from atmospheric pressure in kPa is given as:- altitude = (1 - (P/101.325)^0.190263) * 44330.32172 So, a pressure of 1010 mbar, which is also written as 101.0 kPa works out as:- (1 - (101/101.325)^0.190263) * 44330.32172 = 27.09m (rounded to 2...

Re: DragonPro

Phew! Finally got that alternative compass renderer done. It does look rather nice although a little short - a bit like the EagleTree compass. Clear but short. It should render faster though, consisting of fewer characters albeit slightly larger ones. Next up - the passthrough and channel mapping st...

Re: DragonPro

The Microchip ICD3 got in today. I paid USD256.49 for it inclusive of shipping (and probably got one of the first few in the world - it was just launched on the 10th March). The thing basically looks like the ICD2 (hockey puck look) - wish they had made it square instead of round but then again, it'...

Re: DragonPro

Minor update: Got an e-mail from Neil at Decade Engineering that there is indeed a known bug in the SPI hardware at high speeds such as what I was using, except that they found it at a higher speed but I managed to reproduce it at a lower speed. This isn't a significant problem as we are still sendi...
