DragonOSD+ mod. video sources with low sync levels

Post by Daniel Wee » Sat 03 Apr 03 2010 8:21 am

(Note: This modification is being deprecated in favour of the third approach (Reducing Sync confusion) below. Do not use this method unless nothing else works.)

Most of the time this modification is unnecessary. It appears that some video sources (such as the Toshiba Camelio camcorder) puts out a lower than usual sync level. When this happens, you will see the text on the line unsynchronize. If this is the case, you can try reducing the value of R3 to feed a stronger signal into the sync separator. Change the SMD resistor as follows:-

Keep the removed resistor (it's very small) in case the change does not work or causes the OSD to not work with other cameras, and you want to revert to the original value (630R). As always, do not keep the iron on the pads any longer than necessary (2-seconds or so).
