Module: Geiger Counter

Post by Rris »

Geiger Tube: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... ts_id=8875
Cost: $93.95USD

Biggest issues: Requires 500vDC and isn't so small (almost 2" long).

Importance: Very low.

Schematics for implementation on SFE's site, including high voltage side of things.

This module would get powered down if power usage was deemed too high for preserving the battery life.

Here you can find some HV supply circuits along with suitable detectors. The 3V one is especially suitable. You may want to optically isolate the output, which I think can be run at 3.3V. This will then drive an interrupt gate which counts the number of pulses.
